The Italian was intended to be a horror comedy in the beginning. Something light hearted, slap stick horror comedy that would leave the audience with a visceral eye roll. As an assessment in my minor Digital Storytelling I was tasked with creating a short film and through that process I realised I wanted to push the boundaries and see what I could do. After conversations with my father who plays the main character we realised early acting wasn’t his calling leading to limited dialogue. He did brilliantly.

All the footage was imported into DaVinci Resolve, edited, colour graded, music adding and a few reshoots lead to the final product. In the conclusion of my assessment I wrote:

“I think learning to adjust and develop my concept is valuable in itself and I shouldn’t feel as though I did not produce what I set out to. I did; it is just in a shorter run time. I don’t believe it weakens the story. I would not necessarily say it strengthens either. All in all, I am happy with the final version.”
